Senior Accountant (Manufacturing Industry)
Location:** Chicago Suburbs, Illinois (On-site)
Employment Type:** Full-time, Exempt
Salary:** $75,000 - $95,000 (DOE)
About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced **Senior Accountant** to join its management team. This is a hands-on role responsible for accounting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing support, inventory control, and office administration.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a small to mid-sized business environment and is comfortable managing a wide range of accounting and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
* Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
* Prepare journal entries and perform month-end closing
* Process invoices and monitor customer payments
* Maintain cash flow reports and financial records
* Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and management reports
* Assist with annual audits and tax-related documentation
* Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks
Purchasing & Sales Support
* Prepare customer quotations and sales orders
* Process purchase orders and obtain internal approvals
* Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, deliveries, and payment terms
* Support purchasing activities and vendor communications
Inventory & Cost Accounting
* Maintain inventory records and Bills of Materials (BOM)
* Update inventory information in QuickBooks
* Investigate inventory discrepancies
* Support cost accounting and inventory reporting
Human Resources & Administration
* Process payroll and assist with employee benefits administration
* Support recruiting and onboarding activities
* Coordinate with external IT vendors and office service providers
* Maintain office operations and administrative functions
* Prepare reports for corporate management as needed
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
* Strong knowledge of General Ledger, AP, AR, month-end close, and financial reporting
* Experience with QuickBooks is strongly preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Preferred Qualifications
* Manufacturing industry experience
* Cost accounting and inventory accounting experience
* Payroll processing experience
* Purchasing or supply chain support experience
* ERP system experience
* Experience working in a small or mid-sized company
* Japanese language skills are a plus, but not required
