Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

  1. Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  2. Fabricates, repairs, and maintains mechanical devices, motors and pumps.
  3. Keeps workshop orderly by cleaning tool boxes, putting away tools and parts, and straightening electrical storage area.
  4. Assists in building interface or accessory equipment as needed.
  5. Responds to customer requests for maintenance assistance in order to provide courteous, timely and expert service.
  6. Repairs and installs structural woodwork and equipment; assists in preparing wall surface for painting and wall covering, in order to ensure proper operation of all equipment according to established schedules and department standards.
  7. Performs upholstery work as required.
  8. Installs and maintains all tile, marble floor materials, carpet, and carpet tiles.
  9. Run milling equipment, lathes and power tools; welds materials.
  10. This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, and vibration.  Proper precautions are taken. 
  11. Subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume. 
  12. Required to work in elevated places inside and outside of the building and in enclosed areas. 
  13. At times subjected to hazards such as the dangers associated with the use of basic hand and power tools, testing equipment, and electrical shock.
  14. Occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions.  Proper clothing is provided.
  15. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

These skills and abilities necessary are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education and a minimum of two years' related experience or through an A.A. degree in a related field or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of paint mixing techniques and airless spraying equipment
  • Knowledge of upholstery techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials and installation techniques related to carpet, carpet tiles, stone flooring materials, and hardwood floors.
  • Knowledge of property layout, including sprinklers risers and emergency generator system.

Ability to:

  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position.
  • Able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work areas.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Equipment and machines used, but not limited to, are basic hand and power tools and testing equipment.  Grinder, band saw, cut-off saw, buffing stand, 48-inch brake, arc welder, punch press, shear, notcher, drill presses, milling machines and lathes.  Sencore testing devices.  Wood making machines, such as saws and shapers, and jointers.
