Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The incumbent is also responsible for the performance of the following types of maintenance work: 1) electrical, 2) HVAC, 3) carpentry 4) painting and 5) mechanical.  Responsible for repairing mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment; installs and repairs all audio systems, television and radio systems, satellite systems, CCTV systems, alarm systems, digital and analog control systems, audio-visual equipment systems and paging systems, perform maintenance painting/wall covering, and repairs and constructs carpentry structure, under general supervision

  • Maintains and repairs refrigerator equipment, boilers, and electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
  • Fabricates, repairs, and maintains equipment such as any mechanical devices, motors, and pumps throughout property.
  • Assists in building interface or accessory equipment as needed.
  • Responds to customer requests for maintenance assistance in order to provide courteous, timely and expert service.
  • Assists in the installation, removal or relocation of electronic equipment, in accordance with established priorities.
  • Fixes all property electronic equipment (except for slot machines and computers) by repairing minor damage to parts and wiring and replacing failed components, in order to ensure proper operation of all equipment according to established schedules and department standards.
  • Repair and installs structural woodwork and equipment; assist is preparing wall surface for painting and wall covering, in order to ensure proper operation of all equipment according to established schedules and department standards.
  • Performs upholstery work as required on hotel and casino chairs, sofas, gaming tables/layouts, restaurant booths and equipment.
  • Installs and maintains all tile, marble floor materials, carpet, carpet tiles.
  • Examines and performs preventative maintenance checks on various types of electronic equipment to include fire alarms, surveillance systems, and satellite systems according to established schedules under supervision, in order to ensure that potential problems are fixed before equipment becomes dysfunctional.
  • Runs milling equipment, lathes and power tools; welds materials.
  • Performs all operations incidental to any type of maintenance painting and carpentry to meet specifications.
  • Uses manual or mechanical means under general supervision. Erects scaffolding, prepares surfaces and mixes ingredients properly.
  • May work with electronic hotel lock systems.
  • May be required to work with high rise lift equipment.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications

The skills necessary for this position are typically acquired through a minimum of three years’ related engineering experience in a hotel/casino with 750 or more rooms, and/or through the completion of an AA Degree in a related field and five years’ related experience.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Thorough and in-depth knowledge of plumbing, mechanics, electrical and electronic systems, welding, refrigeration, boilers and HVAC and chillers.
  • Equipment and machines used, but not limited to, are basic hand tools and testing equipment.  Grinder, bandsaw, cut-off saw, buffing stand, 48 inch brake, arc welder, punch press, shear, notcher, drill presses, milling machines, and lathes. “Sencore” testing devices, i.e., oscilloscopes, tone and sweep generators, multi-meters, frequency counters, RF modulation tester, speaker loan and impedance tester, headset for line testing, voltage, and OHM meters.  Basic hand and power tools, and testing equipment.  Wood making machines, such as saws and shapers, jointers.  Painting and wallpaper covering tools, spray guns, and rollers.
  • This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, and vibration.  Proper precautions are taken. 
  • Subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume. 
  • Required to work in elevated places inside and outside of the building such as lampposts and parking structures and enclosed areas such as boilers, HVAC duct areas and attic spaces. 
  • At times subjected to hazards such as the dangers associated with the use of basic hand and power tools, testing equipment, and electrical shock.
  • Occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions.  Proper clothing is provided.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all times, with customers as well as all levels of employees.
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to basic hand and power tools, lathe arc welder, and electronic testing equipment, power sprayers, power saws.
  • Able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  •  Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work areas including lamp posts, parking structures, boilers, HVAC duct areas, high ceilings and attic space.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
