Job Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will prepare and enforce Chugach's safety program for maintenance operations support team of skilled and semi-skilled tradespeople at Naval Air Facility, El Centro, CA. The contract will cover general service work, general maintenance, base support vehicles and equipment, environmental, and other base services. The SSHO is responsible to implement and administer Chugach's safety program and Government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. This position is designed to establish a culture of safety throughout the contractual organization.
Work Model: Onsite/Office Based
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
โ€ข Responsible for risk mitigation of all of the hazards identified in Chugach's Safety and Health Program IAW the accepted Accident Prevention Plan and shall be on-site at all times when the work that presents the hazards associated with their professional expertise is being performed.
โ€ข Acts as primary point of contact for all safety-related issues.
โ€ข Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service; investigates and corrects safety-related problems and risks.
โ€ข Develops, implements, and maintains safety practices associated with assigned departments and interrelated departments and which align with Chugach's culture of safety.
โ€ข Establishes programs for safety with the goal of aligning all operational functions with a structure that is focused on forward looking, i.e., preparing/approving safety procedures, providing work instructions/procedures/check sheets, maintain internal safety programs.
โ€ข Develops and presents company and contract information at all hands meetings.
โ€ข Ensures departmental reporting and data calls are executed in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
โ€ข Fosters teamwork between departments on safety-related issues.
โ€ข Provides clear and decisive written and oral communication.
โ€ข Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Government and internal customers.
โ€ข Works professionally and collaboratively with all contract and company personnel.
โ€ข Maintains a high degree of professionalism and works well with all levels of the organization.
โ€ข Operates Government and Chugach-owned motor vehicles.
โ€ข Adheres to established company safety personnel and SOPs and policies.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
โ€ข Five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity.
โ€ข Must possess a 10-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last three years and have completed person training as well
โ€ข Must maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety- and health-related coursework over four years.
โ€ข Meets the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1.
โ€ข Skill in the use of MS Office Suite at an intermediate level.
โ€ข Knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in maintenance of facilities.
โ€ข Knowledge of Government contracting terminologies and applications.
โ€ข Ability to effectively communicate, read, and write in English.
โ€ข Ability to be on site during the Government's regular working hours and shall be available on site within two hours after the Government's request after regular hours.
โ€ข Knowledge of equipment maintenance.
โ€ข Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license with acceptable driving record.
โ€ข Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
