JOB SUMMARY
The Mining Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the mine planning needs and reserves management of the aggregate and sand divisions for the company. This position will also oversee the inventory surveying for the company which will include supervising those in a survey role, including assigned drone pilots.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with engineering life-of-mine plans for quarries as well as sand and gravel operations, focusing on safety, site conditions and limitations, operational efficiency, material quality, etc.
  • Assist with updating, managing, and utilizing GIS software to provide operational insights
  • Perform modeling and analysis on short-term and long-term mine planning utilizing design software
  • Provide technical evaluations of short-term along with long-term mine plans
  • Support to aggregate operations for short range mine planning activities such as haul analysis and blasting design
  • Oversee and supervise the accurate determination of stockpile inventory for both the Aggregate, Sand and Ready-Mix Divisions.
  • Partner with Project Engineering by developing mine plans to support civil development for construction projects ranging from large primary crushing installations to railroad spurs
  • Manage the gathering and utilization of geologic mapping, drill data from internal and external exploration crews, quality testing results, drone imagery, survey data, and the sales forecast to design 3-D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules
  • Organize and execute projects of varying scope and complexity including, but not limited to, relocating or obtaining variances for oil and gas or other energy transmission assets to gain more access to reserves
  • Direct and coordinate field activities to ensure timely and accurate production of deliverables
  • Provide calculations and reports regularly to management about supplies, reserves, and operations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships, acting as the primary point of contact to address needs, provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study required
  • 8+ years of recent, related experience required
  • At least 3 years of experience in mining or the aggregate industry required
  • Experience with surveying required; experience surveying with drone preferred
  • Licensed drone pilot or the ability to obtain license within the first 6 months required
  • Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Esri, Surpac, etc.) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 90 lbs. of weight
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
