Job description

Client Overview

Our client is a leading provider of industrial automation and control system solutions, delivering innovative technologies that help process manufacturing companies improve efficiency, product quality, and profitability. They are seeking a DeltaV Automation Engineer to join their growing team and support the design, implementation, commissioning, and qualification of Emerson DeltaV control systems for a variety of process manufacturing clients.

Overview

The DeltaV Automation Engineer will work directly with customers, engineers, and project teams to design and implement DeltaV distributed control systems (DCS). This position offers the opportunity to participate in the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design through testing, commissioning, and qualification. The ideal candidate will have hands-on DeltaV experience, strong technical skills, and a passion for solving complex automation challenges.  Position is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is fully onsite.  Life sciences industry experience and ability to speak Spanish and English.   

Summary

This role is responsible for developing and configuring Emerson DeltaV control systems, creating engineering documentation, supporting commissioning activities, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions. The engineer will also have opportunities to mentor junior team members, support business development efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, clients, and project stakeholders to deliver advanced control system solutions for process manufacturing environments.
Define functional requirements and develop DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) configurations.
Create lifecycle documentation, control architectures, electrical panel designs, and wiring drawings in accordance with GMP standards.
Review and redline P&ID documentation.
Execute system testing, commissioning, startup, and qualification activities at customer sites.
Lead project teams consisting of engineers and technicians to successfully deliver automation projects.
Mentor and support less experienced engineers.
Develop and maintain engineering standards that enhance project execution efficiency and accuracy.
Provide technical support to business development and sales teams during client engagements and proposal development.
Ensure all deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
2 to 8 years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or process control systems.
Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV control systems is required.
Strong understanding of control system design, configuration, and programming principles.
Experience working in Microsoft Windows environments.
Knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-based environment.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
