Job Description
Select Chemistry's Automation Engineer provides industrial automation expertise and leadership to support business operations. This position will work with other operations personnel to drive continuous improvement of Select's chemical application operations.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Works in accordance with safety regulations and procedures always (LOTO, Confined Spaces, Hazardous Material Handling procedures, etc).
  • Developing and designing scalable technology solutions.
  • Implementing and maintaining automated equipment.
  • Troubleshooting existing automated assets.
  • Training automation and field personnel on operating equipment.
  • Working across service lines for seamless automation operations.
  • Support the Director of Operations regarding technological development, operations, and solutions used in the company.
  • Functions as PLC programmer and system expert for PLC based automation; designing, building, testing, and implementing automation solutions for Select.
  • Maintains excellent written communication stakeholders about developments and plans.
  • Lead testing and implementation in the field for new products and projects.
  • Maintains and strives to improve established automated systems and installations.
  • Provides all aspects of support and work with a professional and positive attitude.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks with team or independently.
  • Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Manages data collection infrastructure from device to PLC.
  • Maintains workflow and programming documentation for all work by writing and updating procedures.
  • Builds and maintains cause and effect matrixes for both existing and new PLC programs.
  • Manages the creation and maintenance of wiring diagrams.
  • Must be able to repair and maintain electrical equipment, such as 480V motors, 120V circuits, lights, solenoids, process instrumentation (transmitters, meters, etc), computer-controlled systems, and production machines and equipment.

Requirements

  • Availability is to be on call when necessary for afterhours and weekend work.
  • Available for mandatory overtime when necessary to repair critical issues.
  • Hands on attitude to get things done with the ability to manage change.
  • B.S in Engineering or equivalent or demonstrable Engineering/PLC Programming experience.
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years of documented PLC programming/Automated systems/SCADA integration experience.
  • Candidate will have expert understanding of industrial automation processes, including hardware software and electrical aspects of such systems.
