Engineering Fall Co-op / Intern - Space Flight Systems
Location: Webster, TX
Department: Space Flight Systems (SFS)
Employment Type: Fall 2026 Co-op / Internship
Period of Performance: 15 August- 31 December 2026
Compensation: $20.00-25.00 per hour
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (Flexible)
Remote/Telework: Onsite only
Travel: None anticipated

Position Summary
Aegis Aerospace is seeking an Engineering Co-op / Intern to support our Space Flight Systems (SFS) team in Webster, Texas, during the Fall 2026 academic term. This opportunity is intended for a junior- or senior-level college student pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline. The selected student will work alongside experienced engineers and project personnel supporting the design, development, integration, and testing of spaceflight hardware and systems. Assignments will be based on the student's academic background, experience, and current project needs. This position offers exposure to real-world aerospace engineering activities in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Description of Duties
The candidate may:
  • Assist with the design, development, integration, and testing of spaceflight hardware and related systems
  • Support mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering activities based on academic background and project needs
  • Assist with engineering calculations, trade studies, analyses, drawings, schematics, or technical documentation
  • Participate in the assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of prototype and flight hardware
  • Collect, organize, and analyze engineering or test data
  • Support the preparation and execution of test plans and procedures
  • Assist with maintaining engineering drawings, bills of material, test records, and configuration-controlled documentation
  • Participate in engineering meetings, design reviews, and project status discussions
  • Work with engineers and other team members to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Follow established safety, quality, documentation, and engineering processes
  • Perform other related engineering duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field
  • Junior or senior academic standing during the Fall 2026 term
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles related to the candidate's field of study
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information, drawings, diagrams, or specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Dependable, organized, and willing to perform both analytical and hands-on assignments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, research, or engineering project experience
  • Participation in a university engineering organization, design team, or competition
  • Experience with CAD software, electronics, programming, data analysis, modeling, simulation, or laboratory test equipment
  • Familiarity with aerospace systems, spaceflight hardware, systems engineering, or engineering test processes
  • Experience preparing engineering reports, presentations, drawings, or other technical documentation
  • Interest in spacecraft, payload development, mission integration, or spaceflight operations
