Job Summary:
Zymo Research is seeking an experienced, data-driven Director of Segment Marketing to lead strategic marketing efforts across our key customer segments - Academic & Government, Clinical, Pharma & Biotechnology, and Applied Markets. This individual will oversee a team of marketing managers and be responsible for building and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive growth, differentiation, and market penetration across each segment.
You will own the go-to-market strategy, positioning, and customer engagement model for each segment, ensuring alignment across product, sales, and corporate marketing to meet commercial goals globally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive segment marketing strategies aligned with corporate goals and revenue targets.
  • Partner with product management, regional sales, and corporate marketing to define and prioritize target markets, customers, and value propositions.
  • Translate market insights into actionable plans - including segment-level messaging, campaigns, and customer experience initiatives.
  • Establish KPIs and ROI frameworks to measure impact of marketing programs by segment.

Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Segment Marketing Managers - fostering ownership, accountability, and cross-functional excellence.
  • Create an environment that drives innovation, market responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage workload and priorities to ensure balanced support across all business segments.
  • Develop clear metrics for team success, team member growth, and team expansion.

Market and Customer Insights
  • Drive deep understanding of market dynamics, emerging trends, and customer needs within each segment.
  • Leverage data, competitive intelligence, and voice-of-customer programs to guide positioning and investments.
  • Build business cases for new opportunities or repositioning strategies within key markets.

Integrated Marketing Execution
  • Oversee development of segment-specific campaigns, content, and enablement tools.
  • Partner with digital and field marketing teams to deliver targeted programs that drive awareness, lead generation, and sales conversion.
  • Align messaging and campaigns globally while enabling regional adaptation.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in life sciences marketing
  • Proven success developing and executing segment-based marketing strategies across multiple verticals.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills - able to inspire and hold teams accountable to measurable results.
  • Deep understanding of one or more of the following markets: academic research, clinical diagnostics, biotechnology/pharma, or applied industrial applications.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, commercial, and operations teams in a matrixed global organization.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in life sciences, business, or marketing preferred.

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $130,000-$140,000 annually (plus bonus plan) at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
