How much do seed technologist jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 12, 2026, the average hourly pay for seed technologist in the United States is $33.01, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $22.36 and $40.14 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does a seed technician do?

A seed technician is responsible for testing, processing, and quality controlling seed samples to ensure they meet industry standards. They operate laboratory equipment, record data accurately, and may assist in seed production and storage processes, often following safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Seed Technologists typically do not earn $2000 a day; such high daily rates are more common in specialized consulting, executive roles, or highly paid freelance positions. High-paying jobs often require advanced skills, certifications, or extensive experience, and may include roles in finance, law, or executive management. For most technical or scientific roles like seed technology, salaries are usually structured as annual wages rather than daily rates.

What are some typical challenges a Seed Technologist may encounter on the job?

Seed Technologists often face challenges such as maintaining strict quality standards across diverse seed lots, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and adapting to evolving industry protocols. The role involves working both independently and as part of a team, frequently collaborating with agronomists, lab technicians, and production staff. Staying updated with regulatory changes and ensuring compliance can also be demanding, requiring ongoing professional development. Embracing these challenges helps Seed Technologists play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality seed production and supporting agricultural innovation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Seed Technologist position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Seed Technologist, you should have a strong background in plant biology, agronomy, or a related field, supported by a relevant degree or diploma. Familiarity with seed testing equipment, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and industry certifications such as ISTA accreditation is often required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication are vital soft skills in this position. These competencies ensure the accurate evaluation, quality assurance, and efficient processing of seeds critical to agricultural productivity.

What jobs pay 10,000 a month without a degree?

A Seed Technologist typically requires specialized knowledge in agriculture and may not reach a $10,000 monthly salary without significant experience or advanced education. However, some high-paying roles in sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship can earn $10,000 or more per month without a degree, especially with strong skills, certifications, or business acumen. These roles often involve commission-based income, independent work, or specialized technical skills.

How to become a registered seed technologist?

To become a registered seed technologist, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, followed by specialized training or education in seed technology or related fields. Certification programs are available through industry organizations, and gaining practical experience in seed testing laboratories is essential for registration and employment in this role.

What is a Seed Technologist job?

A Seed Technologist is a professional who tests, processes, and ensures the quality of seeds for planting. They conduct germination tests, assess seed purity, and help improve seed performance through research and technology. Their work supports agriculture by ensuring farmers receive high-quality seeds that meet industry standards. Seed Technologists may work in labs, greenhouses, or production facilities, collaborating with scientists and agricultural experts.
