The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting and securing our organization's technology

Primary Objectives Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce policies and procedures that enhance overall system security. Contributes expertise to strategic planning, capacity management, and IT initiatives to support organizational goals; performs related tasks as apparent or assigned.. Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems to ensure security and reliability. Provides project leadership, ensuring that IT resources are maintained with integrity and efficiency. Monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements necessary upgrades and patches to safeguard against vulnerabilities.

Supervision Exercised None PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Assists management with technology planning, evaluates new technology. Assists in acquisition and recommends system modifications for improvement. Pulls and terminates network cables, punches cables into patch panels, ensuring proper alignment and strong connections.

Tests installations with cable testers to verify performance and troubleshoots connectivity issues using diagnostic tools. Implements and enforces security policies and procedures, manages access controls and conducts security audits. Maintains detailed documentation of systems, functions, dependencies and detailed software configurations.

Responsible for documenting changes. Mentors team members to promote skill development and continuous improvement. Works closely with other departments to integrate IT solutions, supports new technology implementations, and ensures seamless connectivity across the organization.

Conducts all work in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, customer requirements, compliance requirements and best practices. Plans and executes upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance to ensure the systems and infrastructure is up-to-date and secure from potential vulnerabilities. Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.

Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities. Systems Administers, configures, and monitors the County's security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection and response systems, virtual private networks, access controls, data security measures, and endpoint security solutions, to safeguard sensitive data and assets against both internal and external cyber threats. Designs, configures, deploys, and manages systems and application solutions to ensure reliable operations for internal departments, external partners, and remote users.

Continuously monitors the performance of systems and applications, identify and resolve any bottlenecks, security issues, or resource constraints to ensure optimal data flow and system efficiency. Diagnoses and resolves software & application issues, outages and performance problems. Conduct root-cause analysis and implement the necessary fixes.

Oversees identity management, user access and permissions. Ensure the proper configuration to regulate access to systems and applications. Administers issuance, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates to ensure secure and compliant management of encryption protocols and authentication processes.

Installs, program, maintain and troubleshoot on-premise and cloud systems to provide applications and services. Delivers hands-on technical support for system-related concerns, assisting in diagnosing and resolving issues related to systems, applications and software solutions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in enterprise system administration or network architecture, strategic planning, project management, cybersecurity; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts; occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to the risk of electrical shock
