Location: Denver Colorado Area

Clearance: Must be clearable but TS or TS/SCI preferred

Start Date:  Jan/Feb 2020

Primary Purpose of Position

We need experienced Security Systems Architect with Lenel and DMP experience to assist with maintaining and managing Company’s access control and alarm system servers and network.  In addition to system administration support, Systems Architect will also work with Company’s security team and contractor security system integrator to design new spaces.

Design, build, develop, configure, test, maintain, integrate and enhance physical and technical security system architecture focusing on intrusion detection, notification of suspicious activity and denial of intrusions.  Provide risk management, technical security standards, data governance and regulatory compliance across the organization to Company Management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Based on assignment, employee may perform the following functions:

  • Lead or participate in activities to build out architecture, frameworks, standards, and guidance regarding functional areas of application, process, and infrastructure within Company.
  • Responsible for system design of intrusion and access systems, configuration, system hardening, deployment, design documentation, software and system upgrades (i.e., patching, etc.), threat monitoring, threat mitigation and testing.  
  • Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
  • Plans security systems by researching and evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices.
  • Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.
  • Validates certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software configuration and installation; adhering to government and industry standards.

  • Enables security team objectives by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members.
  • Participate in innovation management activities:  research, suggest, implement, evaluate, rank, oversee proof-of-concept activities, and transfer knowledge of appropriate new and emerging technologies into the broader IT environment.
  • Administration of scope of work, statement of work, request for quote/information, eestimate cost and budget for security system projects and updates.
  • Validates security systems by developing and implementing test scripts.
  • Perform penetration testing on new and existing application architecture
  • Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs.
  • Enhances security systems by monitoring security environments; identifying security gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements.
  • Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Prepare cost estimates, identify and resolve integration issues.
  • Review, approve, configure and install firewalls, VPN, routers, IDS scanning technologies and servers.
  • Test final security structures to ensure they behave as expected.
  • Provide technical supervision for (and guidance to) internal and external support teams, oversee technical teams during security or other IT updates.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics and operation/product manuals.
  • Maintain communications with customers and project managers to resolve customer issues.
  • Other duties as required.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office environment.
  • Travel and local commute between campuses and other possible non-Company locations may be required.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Security Architect Sr – Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years’ related experience
  • Security Architect Principal – Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years’ related experience

Certifications

Job-related certifications may substitute for years of related experience for highest level certification (not cumulative).

  • 1 year of experience: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, Network+CE, DMP (Remote Link and Encrypted Panels), Lenel Certified Associate (LCA)
  • 2 years of experience: CCNA-Security, FICSP, GSEC, Security+CE, SSCP, CAP, Lenel Certified Professional (LCP)
  • 3 years of experience: CASP CE, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CISM, GSLC, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, Physical Security Professional (PSP), Lenel Certified Design Architect (LCDA), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM), Lenel Certified Expert (LCE)
