What are the main challenges a security manager faces when balancing physical security and cybersecurity responsibilities?

Security Managers often oversee both physical and digital security, which can present challenges in aligning strategies and resources. They must stay updated on evolving cyber threats while also ensuring secure access to facilities, often requiring close collaboration with IT departments and facilities teams. Balancing these demands involves prioritizing risks, coordinating responses, and maintaining clear communication channels across departments. A proactive approach and ongoing training are essential for effectively managing both aspects of the role.

They are responsible for developing security protocols, facilitating security evaluations, and ensuring that emergency response procedures are operational. It is also the job of a security manager to oversee security personnel. This includes the hiring and training of new team members, the creation of weekly shift schedules, and the monitoring of overall work performance. Security managers are responsible for ensuring that employees and visitors of a company are safe at all times.

These skills are crucial for developing robust security strategies and ensuring the safety of people, assets, and information.

Job description

Full-Time | Part-Time | Rotational Shifts Available

We are seeking an experienced Evening Security Guard Supervisor who understands that exceptional security starts with exceptional customer service.

This is not an entry-level security position. We are looking for a mature, professional individual with extensive security experience and a proven ability to build positive relationships with tenants, visitors, contractors, and property management teams.

Our Security Guard Supervisors serve as the face of our organization and are often the first point of contact for building occupants and guests. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to de-escalate situations professionally while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

What Sets This Position Apart

This role combines traditional security responsibilities with a high level of concierge-style customer service. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable conducting security patrols, responding to incidents, and providing outstanding service to tenants and visitors.

The ideal candidate is confident, approachable, professional, and capable of representing our organization at the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations

  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols of commercial office buildings and construction sites
  • Monitor CCTV, access control systems, and building security systems
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, alarms, disturbances, and unauthorized access
  • Maintain the security and integrity of assigned properties
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and daily activity reports

Concierge & Customer Service

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, visitors, contractors, and building guests
  • Provide professional assistance, information, and direction
  • Build positive relationships with building occupants and clients
  • Resolve concerns calmly, professionally, and efficiently
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and conflict-resolution skills

Leadership & Professionalism

  • Lead by example and maintain high standards of conduct
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in dynamic situations
  • Support security operations across multiple properties
  • Promote a positive, service-oriented culture while maintaining security requirements

Required Qualifications

Security Experience

  • Valid Alberta Security Services Worker License
  • Drivers License
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional security experience
  • Experience working in commercial office towers, Class A buildings, construction sites, hospitality, concierge, or similar environments
  • Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and report writing

Customer Service Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of customer service, concierge, hospitality, front desk, client-facing, or related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional service while managing difficult situations
  • Strong conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

Additional Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is strongly preferred
  • First Aid/CPR Certification considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically capable of performing patrol duties, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs

Who Will Be Successful in This Role?

The ideal candidate:

  • Takes pride in delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Remains calm and professional under pressure
  • Possesses high emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
  • Understands that security and customer service go hand-in-hand
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and integrity at all times
  • Is confident interacting with executives, tenants, contractors, and members of the public

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive compensation
  • Opportunities for advancement and leadership development
  • Diverse and engaging work environments
  • Supportive management team
  • Stable, long-term employment opportunities
  • Professional and respectful workplace culture

If you are an experienced security professional who excels at customer service and understands how to balance security, professionalism, and tenant relations, we would like to hear from you.

Only applicants with substantial security and customer service experience will be considered.
