Job description

Position Summary...As a Senior Application Security Engineer at Walmart, you will provide critical security and operational support for production web environments by leveraging advanced security technologies and conducting thorough vulnerability assessments. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards, driving the implementation of secure coding practices, and communicating security risks effectively to stakeholders. You will also mentor peers, support governance audits, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the overall security posture while aligning with business objectives and maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
About the team:
The Product Security team focuses on enhancing security automation, visibility, and governance within developer and security workflows. This role supports Application Security Posture Management (ASPM), SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM), and related capabilities to ensure risk-aligned, consistent, and scalable security across Walmart’s application ecosystem. Collaborating closely with developers, engineering, product, and business teams, the team integrates secure-by-design principles, aligns security tooling, and improves security outcomes. Feedback from security tooling users is actively incorporated to streamline processes and reduce friction, driving continuous improvement in application security practices. What you'll do...
  • Own the day-to-day support, administration, configuration, integration, and operational health of ASPM, SSPM, and related security platforms.
  • Partner with Application Security teams to align Product Security tooling with existing AppSec capabilities, standards, workflows, and roadmaps, minimizing unnecessary overlap and identifying opportunities for consolidation or integration.
  • Define technical requirements, use cases, success criteria, and evaluation methods for security tooling; lead proofs of concept and document recommendations based on security value, scalability, integration fit, operational effort, and total cost considerations.
  • Integrate ASPM and SSPM platforms with source code management, CI/CD, ticketing, vulnerability management, identity, cloud, and security systems to improve context, automation, and remediation workflows.

What you'll bring:
  • You have hands-on experience supporting, administering, integrating, and operating ASPM, SSPM, or related application, SaaS, and cloud security platforms, including managing vendor technical engagements, escalations, roadmap discussions, and feature validation.
  • You have experience taking technical ownership of security platforms, including configuration, integrations, access, upgrades, troubleshooting, vendor engagement, operational health, and roadmap planning.
  • You understand how SAST, SCA, DAST, secrets scanning, API security, cloud security, identity, and other security signals can be aggregated, correlated, prioritized, and operationalized through posture management platforms.
  • You have experience evaluating security technologies against defined use cases, security gaps, technical requirements, integration needs, and measurable outcomes.
