Position Summary...We are looking for a Staff level Software Engineer to join our Endpoint Security team at Walmart. In this role, you will design, build, and operate the software systems that protect millions of endpoints across Walmart's global infrastructure — from retail stores to corporate offices to distribution centers. You'll work at the intersection of software engineering and security operations, building scalable platforms that automate detection, response, compliance enforcement, and device health monitoring across the fleet.

The is the Endpoint Security team at Walmart is responsible for securing and managing the health of Walmart's global endpoint fleet — spanning millions of devices across stores, distribution centers, and corporate environments worldwide. We build software systems that power fleet-wide visibility, automated remediation, compliance enforcement, and endpoint telemetry analysis. We move fast, operate at massive scale, and care deeply about engineering quality and security outcomes. What you'll do...
  • Design and build backend services, APIs, and automation pipelines supporting Walmart's endpoint security program
  • Develop integrations between EDR/EPP platforms 
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest endpoint telemetry at scale to support threat detection and fleet visibility
  • Create automated patch compliance and vulnerability response workflows, reducing manual effort and time-to-remediation across the endpoint fleet
  • Develop configuration enforcement and drift detection systems leveraging tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, IT operations, and SOC teams to deliver agent health monitoring platforms and endpoint observability dashboards
  • Build RESTful APIs and microservices (Java/Python) 
  • Contribute to DevSecOps practices 
  • Translate complex security requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with proficiency in Java, Python, or equivalent backend languages
  • Demonstrated experience building RESTful microservices and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases 
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines 
  • Understanding of security fundamentals: vulnerability management, endpoint protection, threat detection, and incident response
  • Relevant certification: CISSP, Security+, GSEC, CEH, GCFE, GCIH, or GCFA
  • Hands-on experience integrating with EDR platforms 
  • Experience building data pipelines for security telemetry 
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools 
  • Experience with ServiceNow 
  • Familiarity with agentic AI systems, MCP servers, or LLM-powered security tooling
