Job description

Are you looking to use your expert financial, analytical and leadership skills in an industry that supports and protects explorers and heroes? We could use your expertise on our team! As a Tax Compliance Manager I you will oversee the coordination and management of tax compliance, tax audits, tax forecasting, and planning activities. You will ensure compliance with current tax laws, court cases, regulations, and rulings, while providing oversight and guidance to a team of tax accountants and/or communication to leadership of compliance filings and requirements. This role requires collaboration with multiple teams including finance, legal, accounting, and audit to maintain accurate tax provisions and effective tax budgeting.As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax compliance workpapers for federal, state, and local tax compliance, including all relevant book to tax adjustments, and support to ensure highest quality information and documentation for audit support and defense.
  • Implement and optimize processes for AI adoption and implementation in line with industry best practices to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Oversee tax forecasting and planning, identifying potential tax-saving opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance on existing tax laws, court cases, regulations, and rulings.
  • Lead the preparation and review of detailed quarterly and annual tax calculations, projections, and estimated tax payments.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, accounting, and audit teams to ensure cohesive tax strategies.
  • Monitor and update tax processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and records to support tax audits and inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns and related documentation.
  • Manage the timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and compliance documents.
  • Stay current on industry trends and changes in tax legislation impacting the Aerospace and Defense sector.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on tax compliance for companies.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team.
  • Familiarity with financial statements and the underlying financial records for developing and building financial statements.
  • Experience working with tax law and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports and/or projections.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Taxation or related field.
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiarity with partnership tax reporting and compliance matters.
  • Familiarity with international tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in tax accounting, data analytics, finance, or other quantitative or analytical role in business, program or operations management.
  • Strong business analytical skills with experience in data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of DoD, government contracting and/or public auditing, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of labor rate composition.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
