Job Type: On-Site, Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Compensation: $25-30 per hour
We are seeking a dependable, unarmed Security Guard to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors on our school campus. This position supports campus safety through routine interior and exterior observation, campus patrols, and on-site camera monitoring. Duties include greeting visitors in a professional and courteous manner, following school visitor management procedures, issuing appropriate visitor badges, monitoring campus activity, checking designated doors and access points to ensure they are secured as required, and promptly reporting suspicious activity, safety concerns, or emergencies to school administration and local law enforcement when appropriate. The ideal candidate is professional, observant, approachable, and committed to fostering a positive, student-centered school environment.
Responsibilities and Duties: these are not written to be all inclusive and not limited to -
  • Patrol and Surveillance:?Conduct regular patrols of the school grounds to detect and deter any unauthorized activity or suspicious behavior. Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify and respond to security threats promptly.
  • Access Control:?Manage access to the school premises by verifying the identity of visitors, students, faculty, and staff. Enforce access control procedures and ensure that only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
  • Emergency Response:?Respond promptly to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches. Take appropriate action to mitigate risks, evacuate areas if necessary, and notify emergency services as required.
  • Incident Reporting:?Document all security-related incidents, including disturbances, thefts, vandalism, and policy violations. If necessary, prepare accurate and detailed incident reports for review by school administrators and law enforcement.
  • Crowd Control: Maintain order during school events, assemblies, and other gatherings by monitoring crowd behavior and intervening in disputes or disturbances. Ensure the safety of attendees and prevent disruptions to the event.
  • Safety Procedures:?Enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize student, faculty, and visitor risks. Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Collaboration:?Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members to develop and implement security strategies and protocols. Support and assist school personnel as needed to maintain a secure and orderly environment.

Additional Duties
  • Attend school chapel, committees, meetings, and other internal school functions
  • Participate in and help support, Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Graduation and Admissions Events, as scheduled on weekdays and weekends
  • Engage in ongoing professional development experiences, including out of the area opportunities, throughout the calendar year (including summer) as directed and supported by the administration
  • Other related duties assigned by Supervisor

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid California Guard Card
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Security or Law Enforcement training is preferred
  • Proven experience as a security guard, preferably in an educational or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of security procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Eligibility to work in the USA; we are unable to provide sponsorship
  • Pass background check and references, provide negative TB test
  • Current Bloodborne Pathogens, First Aid & CPR, California Mandated Reporter & Sexual Harassment certifications, or able to attain within the first 3 months of employment

  • Operate standard office equipment including copier, postage machine, laminator

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolong standing up to and above 80% of time. Includes sitting, squatting, reaching, and kneeling
  • Climb stairs and navigate sloping terrain
  • Ability to move equipment/boxes and ability to lift up to 25lbs

Work Environment:
  • Navigate 10 acres of land with multi surfaces, multi-level with transitions
  • Ability to traverse difference surfaces including wood, linoleum, grass, concrete, dirt, gravel
  • Sustain loud noises for a minimum of 50% of time depending on activities
  • Able to handle outdoor weather including bright sun to rain, and temperature from cold to hot
