Job description

One Federal Solution (OFS) is seeking a Personnel Security Assistant to support our Government Client in Arlington, Virginia. The selected candidate will provide administrative and personnel security support for federal background investigations, assisting with the initiation, review, and processing of security investigations while ensuring compliance with established federal security policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting personnel security operations, processing NBIS eApp investigations, conducting record checks, and maintaining sensitive security documentation within a federal environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the initiation and processing of federal personnel security investigations and reinvestigations.
  • Determine the appropriate level of investigation based on position designation requirements.
  • Conduct preliminary record checks within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Central Verification System (CVS) to verify reciprocity and investigative eligibility.
  • Initiate and manage electronic background investigations through the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) eApp system.
  • Assist applicants with NBIS eApp access, troubleshooting, and application completion.
  • Review investigation packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal security requirements.
  • Conduct National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) inquiries.
  • Perform credit checks and other required investigative activities in support of personnel security determinations.
  • Determine whether additional inquiries are necessary to resolve discrepant, contradictory, or adverse information.
  • Fingerprint applicants and employees in accordance with federal security procedures.
  • Maintain sensitive personnel security records while ensuring compliance with applicable privacy and security regulations.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and other federal agencies throughout the personnel security process.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to prepare reports, maintain records, and support daily administrative operations.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of specialized experience as a Personnel Security Assistant or in a closely related personnel security role.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience initiating and reviewing NBIS eApp (electronic application) investigations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting NCIC and NLETS inquiries and performing credit checks.
  • Experience supporting federal personnel security investigation processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of accuracy and discretion.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a High-Risk Public Trust (Tier 4) Background Investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with Personnel Security Process Management.
  • Experience preparing investigative reports and supporting personnel security documentation.
  • Previous experience supporting a federal government personnel security office.

Compensation
