Tasting Consultant

Round Barn Estate – Baroda, MI
Part-Time / Seasonal | Hourly + Tips

Position Summary

Round Barn Estate is seeking outgoing, knowledgeable, and hospitality-focused Tasting Consultants to create memorable guest experiences while showcasing our portfolio of handcrafted wines, craft beers, and spirits.

Tasting Consultants guide guests through tastings, share product knowledge and brand stories, make thoughtful recommendations, and assist with retail purchases. The ideal candidate is personable, confident, and enthusiastic about hospitality and beverage education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome guests and provide friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable service.
  • Guide guests through wine, beer, and spirits tastings.
  • Educate guests on Round Barn products, including flavor profiles, production methods, and suggested pairings.
  • Recommend products based on guest preferences and encourage retail purchases.
  • Accurately enter transactions and process payments through the POS system.
  • Verify identification and follow all responsible alcohol service requirements.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and maintain a safe, enjoyable environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked tasting and retail areas.
  • Restock wine, beer, spirits, merchandise, glassware, and supplies.
  • Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and side-work responsibilities.
  • Promote winery experiences, events, memberships, and other Round Barn offerings.
  • Support fellow hospitality team members during high-volume periods and special events.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous tasting room, restaurant, retail, sales, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Wine, beer, or spirits knowledge preferred; training will be provided.
  • Strong communication and guest engagement skills.
  • Comfortable educating guests and making product recommendations.
  • Strong sales instincts without sacrificing genuine hospitality.
  • Positive, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and peak seasonal periods.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, carry, and lift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to safely handle cases of wine, beer, spirits, glassware, and retail merchandise.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
