Overview

Market Securities is expanding its Madrid office and is seeking a System & Support Engineer to join the IT team. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on infrastructure management with end-user support, designed to serve as the primary IT resource for the Madrid office while contributing to the firm's global IT operations.


The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a reliable and secure IT environment in Madrid, supporting local staff on a daily basis, and collaborating closely with the central IT team to ensure consistency across all Market Securities offices worldwide.

Key Responsibilities


Infrastructure & Systems


  • Manage and maintain the local server environment, including Windows Server 2019/2022 and virtualisation platforms (VMware ESXi / vCenter).

  • Oversee storage systems, Veeam backup and replication, and ensure business continuity through regular recovery testing.

  • Monitor infrastructure health, system performance and capacity planning to ensure high availability.

  • Contribute to infrastructure projects: planning, deployment, upgrades and post-implementation documentation.

  • Apply automation and scripting (PowerShell or equivalent) to improve operational efficiency where applicable.


End-User Support


  • Act as the first point of contact for all IT support needs in the Madrid office, covering hardware, software, connectivity and business applications.

  • Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Intune, Teams and SharePoint Online.

  • Handle endpoint management, device onboarding/offboarding, and user provisioning via Active Directory / Entra ID.

  • Address and resolve incidents via the IT ticketing system (Freshservice), following ITSM procedures and SLA commitments.

  • Perform morning system checks, routine health monitoring and proactive follow-up on alerts.

  • Document recurring issues and maintain up-to-date knowledge-base articles.


Security & Compliance


  • Manage and monitor Trend Micro Cloud endpoint security across all Madrid user devices, ensuring protection, updates and compliance.

  • Support CNMV and local regulatory compliance requirements from an IT perspective (access logs, login location reports, SIEM event rules).

  • Collaborate with the central compliance and cybersecurity teams to maintain a secure and audit-ready environment.

Requirements


Experience


  • Minimum 2/3 years of experience in a combined systems engineering and IT support role.

  • Proven hands-on experience with Windows Server (2019/2022/2025), VMware (ESXi, vCenter), and storage management.

  • Solid background in Microsoft 365 administration, Intune and Entra ID.

  • Experience managing endpoint protection platforms (Trend Micro Cloud One / Vision One preferred).

  • Familiarity with Veeam backup and replication solutions.

  • Prior experience in a financial services, brokerage or trading environment is a strong advantage.


Technical Skills


  • Proficiency in scripting and automation: PowerShell preferred; Python or equivalent accepted.

  • Sound understanding of networking fundamentals and endpoint security principles.

  • Ability to troubleshoot remotely and communicate technical guidance clearly to non-technical users.

Languages


  • Spanish: fluent (required - primary working language in Madrid).

  • English: professional level (required - for communication with the central IT team and global stakeholders).


Certifications (preferred)


  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator or Azure Administrator Associate.

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP).

  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE).
