Job description

Description:

Powder River Industries, LLC provides technical services across the entire system development life cycle (SDLC). As a prime we are responsible for complete end to end system management for a customerโ€™s mission system. This includes a data center, integrated logistics support, COOP, and disaster recovery. As a subcontractor we are providing services from: DevSecOps, software development, network administration, systems analysis, database administration, storage engineering, hardware engineering, Tier 1 โ€“ Tier 3 support in traditional data center environments (bare metal frames), cloud, and hybrid cloud. The cloud environments we are operating in today are AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle.


Design and Implementation:

  • Designing VDI solutions based on business requirements and best practices.
  • Implementing virtual desktop infrastructure including provisioning, configuration, and integration with existing systems.
  • Performing upgrades and migrations of VDI environments.

Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitoring VDI performance and capacity to ensure optimal user experience.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to VDI infrastructure and desktop environments.
  • Implementing optimizations to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implementing security measures and best practices to protect VDI environments.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.

Documentation and Training:

  • Documenting VDI configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Providing training and support to IT staff and end-users on VDI technologies and best practices.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborating with other IT teams and departments to integrate VDI solutions with existing infrastructure.
  • Providing third-level support for escalated VDI issues and incidents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) working as a VDI Engineer or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of VDI technologies such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Hands-on experience with VDI deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols relevant to VDI (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.) and cloud-based VDI solutions is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate (CCA), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for VDI administration.
  • Familiarity with storage technologies and SAN/NAS solutions in a virtualized environment.


Technical Environment: Microsoft, Linux, Splunk, Ansible, Tenable, GEMS
