Job description

Pavement Marking Equipment Operator (Seasonal)

Traffic Safety Services (TSS) is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our highway construction team. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating specialized equipment, and contributing to projects that improve roadway safety, we encourage you to apply!

This is a seasonal, travel-based position supporting roadway striping, sign installation, and traffic safety operations throughout the region. The Equipment Operator reports directly to the Crew Foreman or Division Manager.

Pay

  • Starting Wage: $20.00 per hour
  • Prevailing Wage: $53.50–$56.45 per hour when working on qualifying prevailing wage projects

What You'll Do

  • Safely operate a variety of construction equipment used in roadway and traffic safety projects, including:
    • Sign installation equipment
    • Road striping and painting equipment
    • Grooving equipment
    • Paint trucks
    • Forklifts
    • Skid steers
    • Other specialized power equipment
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials using forklifts and skid steers.
  • Perform basic inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Assist with roadway striping, pavement marking, and traffic control device installation.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  • Support the crew with additional duties as needed to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of equipment operating experience or equivalent training.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record required.
  • Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Basic knowledge of roadway sign installation and layout preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift over 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working around moving traffic, heavy equipment, noise, dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
