Job description

The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a highly creative, detail-oriented Women's Footwear Designer with a strong point of view on fashion trends, color, materials, and silhouette. This role is responsible for creating cohesive seasonal collections that resonate with the women's consumer and bring a compelling brand story to life.
The Senior Designer partners closely with Product Line Management and Development to design and deliver innovative, commercially viable footwear. This includes translating concepts into a well-executed product through a deep understanding of footwear construction, materials, and fit, while meeting design, quality, and business objectives.
How You Will Make an Impact
  • Create new and innovative products that are consumer driven, market relevant and brand appropriate.
  • Work with developers in US and Asia to deliver on-time product solutions in conjunction with the product calendar and business needs ensuring that all deadlines, line plans, target pricing, and deliverables are met.
  • Participate in market/trend research, development of seasonal trend stories, and color palettes.
  • Verbally present concepts and design solutions to mid and senior-level managers.
  • Ability to constructively discuss and utilize feedback to create an excellent product.
  • Responsible for visually presenting new concepts at key milestone meetings, as well as communicating thorough tech packs to product development and factory partners.
  • Manage multiple projects, with sensitivity to department priorities and deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of ever-changing fashion trends and directions conducted through the monitoring of runway, retail, cultural, and street-style trends, as well as domestic travel, shopping, and researching the competition.
  • Build seasonal mood boards, trend, color, and material stories that define the J&M vision.
  • Collaborate and communicate across multiple teams to create strong market-relevant product stories across disciplines.

Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field of study
  • Minimum of 6+ years of footwear design experience
  • Excellent rendering and presentation skills required
  • Strong knowledge of multiple footwear constructions ranging from sandals, sneakers, casual/dress casual, and boots
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to adapt quickly and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly developed analytical, decision-making, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Technical proficiency in using design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Domestic and international travel required
