Our Electrician is responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with high and low voltage systems, logic controllers, and a strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations.

R.M. Palmer Company, LLC designs, produces, packages, and ships seasonal chocolate novelties. Its products include filled chocolates, solid chocolates, chocolate bars and balls, chocolate cups and coins, chocolate patties, and seasonal products. In addition to their own branded products, the Company co-manufactures both seasonal and everyday products for other large branded companies. Today, the Company operates out of two manufacturing facilities and one distribution facility with ~600 full-time employees. R.M. Palmer Company, LLC has some of the most differentiated manufacturing capabilities in the industry as one of the only companies in the U.S. able to make hollow molded chocolate candy products and multicolor chocolate candy novelties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Execute plans for electrical wiring to ensure well-functioning lighting, intercoms, and other electrical systems.
  • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment, including those for security alarm systems.
  • Install and maintain safety and distribution components, such as switches, resistors, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Troubleshoot and trace PLC and control circuits using electrical schematics to resolve issues in high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Prepare and assemble conduits, then connect wire through conduits.
  • Routinely inspect and replace outdated wiring and insulated cables to prevent system breakdowns.
  • Clean circuits and perform other preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify hazards, malfunctions, or damaged units, performing effective troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Analyze electrical panels and equipment controls for upgrade opportunities and outline plans for replacement.


Requirements:
  • Electrical degree from a technical college or equivalent vocational training; successful completion of an apprenticeship as an electrician preferred.
  • Valid electrical licensing is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial and/or commercial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency with electrical testing devices and hand tools.
  • Experience working with voltage up to 480 Volt 3-phase, 24 Volt control voltage, and various motor drive systems.
  • Proven ability to build and install electrical systems in compliance with regulations.
  • Experience in tracing wiring systems and working with logic controllers.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience in food manufacturing is a plus.
