Client Overview
Our client is a leading children's apparel company specializing in beautifully crafted fashion for newborns, infants, toddlers, and girls. The collections range from delicate layette and infant gifting programs to special occasion dresses, holiday collections, and coordinated fashion separates. They are known for combining timeless styling, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional value for today's families. Currently, they are looking to add a Senior Fashion Designer (Newborn and Infants) to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate
$120k - $140k
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Senior Fashion Designer (Newborn and Infants) focused on newborn, infant, and children's wear. The ideal candidate is passionate about designing age-appropriate, trend-right apparel with a strong understanding of fit, comfort, safety, and the unique needs of babies and young children.
Responsibilities Of The Senior Fashion Designer (Newborn And Infants)
  • Design seasonal collections across newborn, infant, toddler, and girls' apparel categories.
  • Develop concepts for layette, infant gifting, special occasion, holiday, and everyday fashion collections.
  • Create delicate, soft, and age-appropriate styles featuring embroidery, smocking, lace, trims, appliqués, pintucks, and other specialty details.
  • Research fashion trends, colors, fabrics, prints, and embellishments relevant to the children's market.
  • Develop seasonal color stories, fabric assortments, and trend presentations.
  • Create hand sketches, CADs, technical packages, and presentation boards.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Sales, and Production teams throughout product development.
  • Participate in fittings and sample reviews to ensure proper fit, comfort, safety, and construction across newborn through girls' size ranges.
  • Communicate design comments and approvals to overseas factories and vendors.
  • Maintain development calendars and support seasonal deadlines.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Fashion Designer (Newborn and Infants):
  • 5 - 7 years of apparel design experience, preferably in newborn, infant, toddler, or children's wear.
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, fabrics, trims, and production processes.
  • Understanding of fit requirements and safety standards for infant and children's apparel.
  • Experience designing delicate and detail-oriented products, including layette, special occasion, or gifting collections.
  • Strong sense of color, print, embellishment, and fabric coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Fashion Designer (Newborn and Infants):
  • Experience designing for newborn (NB) and infant (0–24 months) size ranges is highly preferred.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
