About Ascension Coffee
At Ascension Coffee, we are passionate about sourcing and roasting the world's finest coffee with a focus on supporting women farmers. Our cafés deliver an exceptional culinary and hospitality experience, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere.
About the role
Reports to: Café Leadership Team
The Barista is a vital member of the café team, responsible for delivering exceptional coffee experiences. They are expected to develop and refine their barista skills, including espresso preparation, latte art, and proper brewing techniques, while continuously expanding their coffee knowledge. Baristas uphold Ascension Coffee's standards by ensuring consistency and quality in every cup. This is an hourly position.
What you'll do
  • Skillfully prepare specialty coffee, tea, and liquor beverages to Ascension standards. Deliver exceptional hospitality, ensuring the highest level of guest service.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot coffee equipment, resolving basic issues.
  • Continuously expand knowledge in specialty coffee, tea, alcohol, and hospitality.
  • Receive and apply feedback effectively, demonstrating adaptability.
  • Build strong interpersonal connections with team members of all skill levels.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to inspire and align teams.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-quality café culture through thoughtful interactions.

Qualifications
  • Specialty coffee experience is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between locations.
  • Availability for nights and weekends.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and resourcefulness. Self-motivated with a willingness to take direction. Ability to stand for extended periods (~8 hours per shift).
