Job description

Job Summary:
LyondellBasell is a leader in the global chemical industry creating solutions for everyday sustainable living. They are seeking a highly skilled Application Support Lead to ensure the stability and performance of their trading platforms, overseeing application incidents, and collaborating with technology teams to maintain robust trading systems.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary application support lead for all trading systems, data and integration workflows.
• Provide end to end ownership of trading application incidents, from initial triage through resolution and root cause analysis.
• Support and maintain ETRM/CTRM platforms, pricing services, market data integrations, reporting systems, integration platform and custom trading applications.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify issues such as latency, interface failures, integration breaks, or data quality discrepancies to minimize business disruption.
• Administer and monitor critical integration and workflow tools such as Azure Integration Services, AppDynamics, job schedulers, and API gateways.
• Collaborate closely with trading organization to identify and resolve system discrepancies.
• Oversee system upgrades, deployments, and maintenance to ensure their proper function and performance.
• Partner with IT Business Interface team to understand business requirements and deliver configuration changes/updates.
• Create and maintain thorough documentation, including operations manuals and user guides.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system resilience, automation, observability, and user experience.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong understanding of trading workflows from front‑office deal creation through mid‑office risk and back‑office settlement.
• Proficiency with SQL and database troubleshooting
• Data, Integration and middleware technologies (Azure, App Dynamics, Snowflake, PowerBI, API, etc.)
• Log analysis and application observability tools
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot quickly and accurately in high‑pressure, time‑critical environments.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work directly and effectively with traders and senior business leaders.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced trading environment with incident management, root cause analysis, and change control processes.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, data governance, and SOX controls in trading environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field or 3+ years of relevant trading application support experience for a trading organization.
• 3+ years of experience providing technical support for trading platforms within commodities, energy, or financial markets.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting ETRM/CTRM platforms (e.g., Entrade, Endur, Allegro, or similar systems)
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting market data platforms (ICE, CME Direct, Trayport, etc.)
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting trading eco system interfaces, pricing engines, and custom trading applications
• Proficiency with SQL for data investigation and issue analysis
• Hands on experience supporting front, middle, and back office users, including traders, schedulers, risk, and settlements
• Strong background in incident management, root cause analysis, and working in high availability, high pressure environments
• Experience troubleshooting integrations, APIs, market data feeds, and batch/scheduled jobs
• Exposure to cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
• Experience participating in UAT, release management, and change control processes
• Familiarity with SOX, audit controls, and application access/entitlement workflow
Preferred:
• ITIL, Cloud certification (Azure/AWS), or other relevant technical credentials are a plus.
