Job description

At EF Go Ahead Tours we believe you're never too old to be a student of the world. For 30 years we have guided individuals across the globe through carefully crafted group travel. Our travelers range from young professionals to retirees, solo travelers to entire families, travel enthusiasts to those stepping off their first flight. We believe that the best way to learn about the world is to experience it. Every day we come to work hoping to help as many people as possible do just that.

As our SEO Manager, you'll join our Boston-based acquisition marketing team-a fun, fast-paced crew that loves to push the envelope and explore the 'what's next' of digital marketing. In an era where search is evolving from simple blue links to complex AI-driven conversations, you will be integral to our digital discovery strategy. You won't just be managing keywords; you'll be ensuring EF Go Ahead Tours is the most trusted, cited, and visible authority across the entire search ecosystem-from AI Overviews to emerging generative engines. Working at the intersection of E-commerce, Engineering, and Creative, you'll help lead the charge in implementing cutting-edge on-site and off-site tactics that connect our world-class travel experiences with the curious travelers searching for them.

You will:

  • Conduct keyword, entity, and competitor research to support a forward-looking SEO strategy that spans traditional search and Generative AI (GEO)
  • Carefully craft and implement optimizations for search engines, focusing on intent-matching and conversational query performance
  • Monitor and report on organic search rankings, traffic, and AI Share of Voice, identifying new areas of opportunity to expand our reach in zero-click environments.
  • Collaborate with copywriters to develop "AI-ready" content for the Content Hub that emphasizes E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness)-ensuring our brand is the primary citation for travel queries
  • Implement a sophisticated internal linking and Knowledge Graph strategy to pass authority to our highest priority tour pages
  • Identify new landing page opportunities and collaborate with the E-commerce team to bring those to life using data-driven insights
  • Own the backlink building strategy, focusing on high-authority digital PR and relationship building to signal trust to both users and algorithms
  • Lead the strategy for Schema markup and structured data across the site, ensuring our video, itinerary, and review content is easily interpreted by AI models
  • Own the optimization of our YouTube channel, leveraging it as a secondary search engine to maximize brand visibility
  • Monitor site health and technical SEO (Core Web Vitals, HREFlang, etc.) to ensure a frictionless experience for both travelers and search crawlers
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by staying ahead of the curve on AI technology advancements, SGE/AI Overviews, and the evolving landscape of digital discovery

You Have:

  • 4+ years of direct SEO experience with a portfolio that shows you can pivot as the industry changes
  • Advanced proficiency in the "classics" (SEMRush, Ahrefs, GSC) and a curiosity for the "new" (AI-tracking and LLM-benchmarking tools)
  • A "Technical SEO" brain that understands HTML/JS but also understands how entities and semantic search work in 2025
  • A passion for travel and a desire to help people see the world by making sure we are the first (and best) answer they find online
  • Understanding of the broader media/digital landscape and SEO's place in the digital marketing array
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, influential, presentation and leadership skills
  • Rich experience working collaboratively with cross-functional (technical and non-technical) teams
  • A demonstrated, successful track record in content development that balances user-engaging substance and search optimized elements

Why you'll love working here: Perks, Benefits, and more!

This is the most fun, high caliber place you'll ever work. Ask any employee why they love EF (whether they've been here 10 minutes or 10 years) and they'll probably tell you the same thing: it's the people. When you work at EF, you join a purpose-driven, international and energetic community that thrives on continuous learning, fearless innovation and mutual support.

In addition, you can expect:

  • Commitment to professional growth: robust monthly calendar of trainings and workshops
  • Four weeks paid vacation your first year, ten paid holidays, and two floating holidays
  • Exciting business travel opportunities
  • 25% company match on your 401(k) contributions
  • Market-leading medical, dental and vision coverage, along with options for life and disability insurance, accident and hospital insurance, legal and pet insurance
  • Dependent care, healthcare and commuter Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs)
  • Access to fertility care and family-building support
  • Wellness benefits including a yearly fitness reimbursement
  • Frequent social and learning events, including access to our employee-run resource groups
  • Robust Employee Assistance Program
  • Tenure-based sabbatical eligibility
  • EF Product Discounts (discounts on travel, international language schools, Au Pair program and more)
  • Discounts at local venues and businesses
  • Amazing offices designed to match the caliber of the people who work there, plus the flexibility of working from home a couple times a week
  • Compensation for this role is between $85,000-$95,000/year, depending on experience
