Job description

Description

We're looking for a PR & SEO specialist to develop and execute content, SEO, and digital strategies that support our clients' business goals. PR & SEO specialists sit where our public relations and web teams meet, turning search insight into content that performs - in traditional search, AI Overviews and emerging generative platforms.

About You

You should be equal parts strategist and writer - someone who can dig into an SEO audit, find the opportunity in the data and then write the blog, landing page or thought leadership piece that captures it. That means you're fluent in the technical side of search, just as comfortable matching a client's brand voice, and already paying attention to how AI Overviews and generative search are changing the way people find what they need.

About Us

We're a full-service agency with offices in Des Moines, Sioux Falls, and Portland. At the heart of our success has always been human creativity. The role of brilliant individuals, and their original ideas, remains just as relevant today as when we opened our doors 40 years ago. That's why we continue to take care of our own like we take care of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Public Relations (PR), this role works collaboratively with the PR and web teams to develop content strategies that support SEO performance and integrated marketing campaigns. Familiarity with PR principles and experience collaborating with PR teams is preferred.
  • Develop and execute SEO, content and digital strategies aligned with clients' business goals, including conducting comprehensive SEO audits (technical, on-page and GEO) and providing recommendations to improve visibility and performance.
  • Analyze keywords, competitors, and search intent to uncover new opportunities in traditional search, AI Overviews (AIO), and emerging generative platforms (GEO).
  • Create and optimize high-quality digital content, including blogs, landing pages, product copy and thought leadership materials that match the client's brand voice and audience.
  • Monitor SEO performance using platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs and Looker Studio, providing strategic recommendations to boost performance based on the data.
  • Develop content roadmaps and calendars that support long-term organic growth.
  • Collaborate with account service, media, creative, web and public relations teams to ensure content is effectively implemented and optimized for UI/UX, accessibility and search performance and keeping content aligned with the larger campaign.
  • Lead Google Business Profile organization, optimization and local SEO initiatives for multi-location businesses.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget and aligned with agency quality standards.
  • Stay informed on evolving search trends, algorithm updates and emerging AI search technologies to continuously improve client strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, advertising, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in SEO, content strategy, and digital marketing. Expert in creating and optimizing content, with preferred experience in multi-brand or agency settings.
  • Exceptional communication skills including: writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Strong understanding of on-page SEO, technical SEO fundamentals, local SEO and content optimization.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Experience with following technologies: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Looker Studio,
  • Ability to work across departments, this role will function jointly on the public relations and web teams.
  • Familiarity with Figma a plus.

Perks + Benefits

  • Office in the heart of downtown - steps away from art, culture and some of the city's best spots for coffee, lunch and happy hour.
  • Free downtown parking.
  • Comprehensive plans for group health, dental, vision and life insurance.
  • 401k with company match.
  • Plenty of Personal Time Off (PTO), plus paid holidays.
  • Potential for bonuses based on success of agency.
  • Even more money for Employee Referral Program.
  • Extracurriculars that tend to be historic events.
