Equipment Operator employees must:

  • Possess a valid TWIC.
  • Safety-toe boots/shoes.
  • are not using cellular phones while on duty.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As an Equipment Operator at Enstructure, you will play a key role in supporting terminal operations by safely operating a variety of heavy equipment to load, unload, move, and stage cargo. This includes forklifts, paper clamp trucks, stackers, front-end loaders, and other specialized equipment used in port and warehouse operations. You must maintain a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and productivity while ensuring cargo is handled according to operational and customer standards. While maintaining inventory and ensuring production organization and cleanliness.

Candidates must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed, including extended schedules of 6 to 7 consecutive days during peak operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain coordination of team functions, ensuring continuous control of the daily team operations. Consistently aware of work conditions, time, service, and quality.
  • Establishes leadership in terms of setting examples in appearance, attendance, demeanor, responsibility, and dedication to the company.
  • Lift, stack, unstack, and move bulk and break-bulk materials using diesel, electric, or propane-powered trucks equipped with fork or clamp attachments.
  • Ensure goods are stored in the correct area for efficient retrieval.
  • Load and unload trailers, containers, boxcars, and cargo off vessels.
  • May perform a variety of manual duties, including lashing and shoring cargo aboard the ship, attaching slings, hooks, or other lifting devices to the winch for loading or unloading, and signaling other workers to move, raise, or lower cargo. May direct the activities of the cargo gang, less experienced stevedores.
  • Performs quality-checking and escorting responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
  • Notify the supervisor of unsafe situations or not in the best interest of the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring all team tasks are completed by the end of the shift.
  • Works on miscellaneous projects as needed.
  • Able to function independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative and tact in handling all the above responsibilities.
  • Adhering to the Company’s safety policies and procedures, those set out by OSHA.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirement:

  • Can pass written and equipment operation forklift certification tests. Basic knowledge areas include Safety Procedures; Truck Inspections; Storage and Exchange Points; Counterbalance Effect; Stability Triangle; Center of Gravity; Equipment Terminology; Attachments, Load centers; Battery Inspection; and Material handling including loading and de-stacking, unloading, and stacking of counterbalance, traveling, Ramps, Trailers, and parking.

  • Excessive heat or cold, extreme weather conditions, excessive humidity or dampness, or chilling.
  • Slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
  • Work around moving objects, vehicles, and moving machinery/heavy equipment.
