The Software Verification Intern/Co‑op supports the engineering and test teams by assisting in the verification of software features, executing test cases, documenting results, and helping ensure product quality. This role is ideal for students interested in software validation, embedded systems, and hands‑on testing in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities of Research and Development Intern

  • Test Preparation amp; Learning: Learn how to interpret Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) and Detailed Design Specifications (DS) and help prepare test environments, including hardware setups, system configurations, and software build installations.
  • Test Execution: Execute supervised unit, integration, system, and regression test cases following established protocols; perform basic manual testing and assist with automated test runs; support regression tests to confirm new features do not negatively impact existing functionality.
  • Effective Issue Reproduction: Reproduce bugs by identifying the simplest, most reliable sequence of steps and using only the minimum equipment necessary to consistently trigger the issue.
  • Documentation amp; Bug Tracking: Record test results accurately; assist in logging bugs in the tracking system with steps to reproduce, expected results, and observations.
  • Collaboration amp; Support: Work with software engineers, senior testers, and program managers to clarify behaviors and defect findings; participate in team reviews of verification protocols and test plan updates.
  • Compliance amp; Quality Support: Learn to follow verification testing GDP documentation practices used in regulated industries and help compile test evidence required for verification completion and release readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements of Research and Development Intern
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Preference for Senior or Rising Senior in college.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts (any language).
  • Interest in software testing, embedded systems, and/or product development.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow structured test procedures.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Coursework or experience in software, hardware/software interfaces, or QA.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking tools and version control systems.
  • Interest in regulated environments (e.g., medical device development).
  • Exposure to automated testing, scripting, or test frameworks.
