Scripted Development Intern information

What does a Scripted Development Intern do?

A Scripted Development Intern supports the development team at a production company, studio, or network by assisting with the evaluation and creation of scripted television or film projects. Typical duties include reading and analyzing scripts, writing coverage, conducting research, attending meetings, and providing administrative support. This role offers hands-on experience in the early stages of content creation and helps interns gain insight into how projects move from concept to production.

What types of projects and tasks can a Scripted Development Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Scripted Development Intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of tasks that support the development of new scripted television or film projects. This often includes reading and providing coverage on scripts, researching industry trends, assisting with writers' rooms, and participating in brainstorming sessions for new concepts. You'll also have opportunities to help with administrative tasks such as organizing pitch materials and tracking submissions. This hands-on experience will give you a solid understanding of how scripted content is developed and the collaborative nature of working within a development team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Scripted Development Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Scripted Development Intern, you need a solid understanding of storytelling, script analysis, and familiarity with television and film industry trends, often supported by coursework in film, media, or screenwriting. Proficiency in script coverage, industry databases (like IMDbPro), and office productivity tools (such as Microsoft Office and Final Draft) is typically expected. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude help you stand out in this collaborative and fast-paced environment. These skills and qualities are essential for effectively supporting development teams and contributing valuable insights during the content creation process.
