The Enterprise AI Enablement team develops AI-powered solutions that improve productivity and transform business processes across Xcel Energy. This intern will help support AI solution development, automation, agent testing, analytics, and continuous improvement activities. The role provides exposure to enterprise AI technologies, Microsoft Copilot, business process automation, and solution delivery.
Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with development and testing of AI-powered solutions and agents.
  • Support automation and workflow improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Document solution requirements, designs, and user guidance.
  • Participate in solution demonstrations and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support maintenance and enhancement of AI tools and applications.

This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current student, Junior or higher
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power Platform, or similar technologies.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Familiarity with automation, APIs, or low-code platforms.
  • Interest in enterprise AI and digital transformation.
  • Experience building applications, websites, or technical projects
  • Basic programming or scripting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 tools.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.90 to $22.10 per hour
