MANUAL SCREW MACHINE SETUP OPERATOR
Description
Electroswitch is seeking an experienced Brown & Sharpe Screw Machine Setup Operator for its manufacturing facility in Rockland, Massachusetts. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting conventional cam-operated Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines used to manufacture high-volume precision components. This is a manual screw-machine position and does not involve CNC programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Independently perform complete setups and operate Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines to manufacture precision components according to blueprints, shop orders, and production specifications.
  • Select and install the appropriate cams, turret tools, collet dogs, spindle-speed gears, thread rollers, and related tooling.
  • Set up and operate LIPE automatic bar feeds.
  • Select jobs according to the established production schedule and verify the correct materials, tooling, and documentation before beginning production.
  • Select bar stock according to the shop order and material requirements.
  • Maintain and sharpen form tools, cutoff tools, drills, and other production tooling.
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process components to verify conformance with blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
  • Use comparators, dial calipers, micrometers, thread micrometers, thread gauges, ring gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Make machine and tooling adjustments as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
  • Record setup information, inspection results, and statistical process control data as required.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot or repair equipment when necessary.
  • Move completed components to the next operation or work center according to the shop order and established routing.
  • Follow all applicable safety, quality, environmental, and hazardous-waste-handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Operate CNC or other manual machining equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical school training preferred.
  • At least five years of related screw-machine setup and operating experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complete setups on Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, specifications, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Experience selecting cams, tooling, spindle-speed gears, collets, and related setup components.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and sharpening form tools, cutoff tools, and drills.
  • Ability to operate a surface grinder and drill sharpener.
  • Working knowledge of first-piece inspection, in-process inspection, and SPC documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues independently.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, product quality, and good housekeeping practices.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use hand tools, machine controls, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and tooling consistent with the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodation where required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Hours:
6:30 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday - Thursday. 6:30 AM - 12:30 PM; Friday.

Pay Range:
$28.00 - $42.00 hourly
