Job description

What you'll do

As a member of the Technical Office Engineering (TOE)ย you will contributeย within the production environment, to theย manufacturingย and testing ofย the first carsย featuring the pioneering Scout design andย functionalities.ย Additionally, you will play a decisive role inย transferring the lessons learned toย product optimization activities andย theย laterย pre-series and series production line. In your role you willย report to the Managerย of the Engineering Office.ย ย 

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Representation of the Scout Engineering Department (R&D) in the Scout Production Center in Columbia / Blythewood.ย 
  • Communication interface to all unitsย andย departmentsย in theย Scout Production Center in Blythewoodย 
  • Liaising withย Logistics andย Productionย toย identify and define project requirements for the preparation and building of Test-and Pre-Series-Vehicles,ย ย 
  • Preparing project proposals, timeframes, schedules, and budgets for the procurement processes for machines and equipment for the R&D workshop in Blythewood.ย 
  • Monitoring costs, progress, and quality of the planning for the TOE in Blythewood: Office space, Vehicle Workshop in the Technical Centerย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Planning and control of the machine and equipment installationย for the TOEย in the newย Production Centerย inย Blythewoodย 
  • Schedulingย andย controllingย theย Test-Vehicle buildย in Blythewoodย for Engineeringย (line-buildย and final completion)ย 
  • Planning of the capacities required for the vehicle buildย supportย and Test-preparationย for Engineeringย 
  • Managingย escalation processes for parts availabilityย and initiation ofย technical solutionsย as well asย acceptance processes for deviatingย build-insย 
  • Reporting and cross-departmental coordination on the vehicle buildย statusย andย change managementย processesย 
  • Preparation of documentation for reports and project statusย 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina,
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.ย 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the companyย from time to time.

  • 7+ years professional experience withย expertiseย in manufacturing engineering, production planning,ย and/or project managementย 
  • Deep knowledge of vehicle engineering processesย andย project planning softwareย 
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering,ย or equivalentย 
  • Skillful at organizational navigation and cross-functional collaboration at all levels; ability to develop effective partnerships and relationshipsย 
  • Creative and strategic problem solver who exercises sound judgementย 
  • Ability to lead simultaneous engineering teamsย 
  • Good knowledge of MS Office productsย 
  • Motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, create new ideas and solutions, enjoy hands-on testingย 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, innovative, creative, communication skills and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationshipsย

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
