About the Role:

The private markets now exceed $13T in AUM as more high-growth companies stay private longer. We are looking for a founding engineer on our new Capital Products Team. This team is building new products to streamline every part of the investing lifecycle—from discovery and diligence to transaction flows and reporting. You’ll be at the forefront of creating robust backend services and intuitive user interfaces, seamlessly integrating with AngelList’s broader ecosystem, regulatory obligations, and our best-in-class KYC-to-transaction workflows.

We’re looking for an engineer who thrives on complexity—collaborating across product, design, operations, and compliance teams to deliver a frictionless user experience. You will have the opportunity to:

• Have more ownership and responsibility for building something early and shipping large features with quick iterations
• Accelerate innovation in the world!

You are most likely:

• Having 6+ years of experience building large-scale web applications, including significant contributions to an early product from 0 to 1
• Full-stack generalist or a backend specialist with proficiency and willingness to contribute across the stack
• Writing clean, scalable code in one of our core languages, or excited to dive into our stack (Typescript, React) and pick it up quickly
• Thrive in ambiguous and complex, fast-moving engineering environments where you help shape product direction
• Self-starter who has built something meaningful from scratch–your own startup, side project, open-source tool, etc.

How success will be measured in this role:

• Consistently delivers high-quality, well-tested code that meets the team’s goals and timelines
• Actively contributes to team discussions and decisions, bringing thoughtful technical perspectives
• Helps deliver a 0-to-1 product, balancing urgency and time-to-market with core engineering principles

AngelList has offices in a few cities, and our engineering hub in San Francisco. We’re focused on hiring from this hub office so engineers and product teams can collaborate in the office at least twice per week (Tuesdays and choice between Wednesday or Thursday).

Compensation: The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $200,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.
