Discover your exciting role
The Tool Install Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for working with a tool install design team on projects. Systems can include power, grounding, EMI bonding, telecom, controls, and cable management.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Works with or leads a team of engineers and/or designers to create and document designs fulfilling the project design scope consistent with industry-accepted practice as well as client-preferred standards, with minimal supervision.
  • Develops tool install designs from Concept Phase through Construction Documents.
  • Responsible for quality control and approval of concepts, basis of design, schematics, equipment plans, details, specifications, cost, and schedule for all Electrical Systems to meet the project requirements
  • Prepares electrical engineering calculations in support of electrical system designs including breaker sizing, feeder sizing, and SCCR.
  • Monitors team progress to ensure design team is on track
  • Contributes to the Tool Install Knowledge Center via documenting lessons learned, completing Continuous Improvement Plan assignments, and use of information developed by others in process discipline
  • Supports project on-site execution and make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant
  • Supports the Project Design Manager and Construction Manager with Fee Development Guide, change orders, quality assurance, scheduling, progress report outs, interdisciplinary coordination, and other responsibilities as agreed to by the project lead and/or Discipline Director
  • Works as a Task Force Lead coordinating with Regional System Experts and project leads to identify and develop system specific standard tools (drawings, specifications, checklists, calculators) for lean project execution, promoting project to project repeatability and consistency across ATF segments
  • Mentors and trains junior staff
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by discipline team
  • Develops conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems
  • Coordinates with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Experience in leading teams and workgroups, small to medium projects

Preferred
  • Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record preferred
  • Prior experience with advanced technology
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in the quality control review process
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes

Skills & Knowledge
  • Detailed understanding of all core Electrical Systems used in ATF projects
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of industry codes and standards applicable for their electrical system design and specifications
  • Detailed understating of Lean execution principles for design of projects
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
  • Ability to train team on lean principles needed to design and manage project
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff
  • Ability build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
