At Vernier, we advance science education by empowering educators and inspiring learners. Were hiring a Science Solutions & Teacher Advocate with a focus on Chemistry.


Position Summary

The Science Solutions & Teacher Advocate supports educators using Vernier technology in chemistry classrooms and laboratories. This role combines chemistry subject expertise, classroom teaching experience, and educational leadership to contribute to the development and improvement of Vernier products and instructional materials, provide technical support, and deliver teacher training.


The position also collaborates with internal teamsincluding engineering, curriculum, marketing, and salesto ensure Vernier products effectively support modern science instruction.


The successful candidate will have recent classroom experience and a strong emphasis in developing NGSS-aligned lab activities as part of their responsibilities.


This is an onsite position based in Beaverton, Oregon, with an expected start date in Summer 2026.


Essential Functions


Customer Support & Service Excellence

  • Delivers exceptional technical support and assistance to customers through multiple channels, including phone, email, ticketing system, chat, and in-person interactions. Primary focus on supporting instructors.
  • Provides comprehensive customer training programs and workshops tailored to diverse learning needs and skill levels.
  • Maintains and strengthens professional relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring outstanding service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Partners with the Sales team to provide excellent customer service in the most efficient way.
  • Responds promptly and effectively to customer inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues, and provides solutions-oriented support.
  • Travels to conferences, workshops, and educational events for product demonstrations, training delivery, and customer engagement. Approximately 10% annual travel required.


Product Development & Quality Assurance

  • Collaborates with product management and engineering in the development of new hardware, including defining requirements, use cases, and evaluating designs.
  • Collaborates with the content team to write, edit, and review curriculum material, including labs, lessons, product guides, and teacher resources.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing team to write and edit articles and other marketing materials.
  • Conducts thorough quality control checks on existing products to ensure reliability and educational effectiveness.


Educational Leadership & Professional Development

  • Actively monitors and stays current with emerging trends, research, and best practices in STEM education and pedagogy.
  • Participates in professional organizations related to STEM education, science teaching, and educational technology.
  • Attend professional conferences, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to maintain expertise in current educational methodologies and technological advances.
  • Engages with the broader educational community through professional networks, forums, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Keeps abreast of current technologies used in educational settings and by customers, ensuring relevant and up-to-date support capabilities.


Professional Skills & Work Management

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours.
  • Effectively manages and prioritizes multiple responsibilities, including customer support time, meetings, and project deadlines.
  • Works independently under limited supervision, utilizing extensive experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrates creativity, initiative, and professional latitude in problem-solving and customer service delivery.


Education / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher in chemistry, science education, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience, preferably chemistry at a high-school level
  • Experience teaching laboratory-based science courses
  • Experience teaching NGSS-aligned science instruction
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including in-person and virtual presentations
  • Comfort working with technology and scientific instrumentation
  • Experience using Vernier products or similar lab technology
  • Experience presenting teacher workshops or professional development
  • Familiarity with chemistry education conferences and organizations
  • Experience working collaboratively across departments, regions, and perspectives
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and science education


Other Position Conditions and/or Physical Demands

  • Limited domestic travel by air and car (10%)
  • Successful completion of criminal, education, and work history background check required
