Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

 

The Manufacturing Program Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating multiple HSDC projects to implement new product solutions and expand manufacturing capacity and capabilities within the business unit. This role partners closely with Technology and Product Line Management to develop and execute strategic initiatives, while providing leadership across cross-functional teams to ensure effective collaboration and successful transfer of new products and processes into manufacturing. The position works with internal and external partners, including development teams, manufacturing sites, suppliers, and contract manufacturing organizations, to support operational readiness and business growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Program lead for implementation of the manufacturing strategy that delivers the quality, flexibility, short cycle-times and cost targets required to be successful in the highly competitive HSDC segment.
  • Lead global effort for process and equipment delivery standardization. Linkage with Technology and OFC/OCS Division Engineering organizations to coordinate resource support and deep engagement in NPI. Collaborates with the Technology, commercial organization and external customers to ensure projects exceed customer expectations.
  • Engages with key equipment vendors on Corning capacity needs, joint development opportunities and fundamental understanding.
  • Develop or ensure development of comprehensive project plans, establish objectives, and monitor adherence to the master plans and schedules.  Ensure or secure adequate resources to enable the success of programs and projects.
  • Regularly communicate program or project status.  Prepare and give presentations about the programs or projects as required.
  • Interact with external customers in conjunction with Corning Commercial groups to develop a clear understanding of their challenges and requirements.  Work closely with internal customers to establish clear understanding of their functional requirements. Participate with Product Management in the development of business cases for projects within the program to ensure maximum value is created with Corning resources.

Education and Experience - Required:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of 15 years total of technology, development, and manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering with project management experience
  • Extensive experience in management of complex, cross-functional, culturally diverse teams and initiatives within technology and across operations
  • Experience delivering on business results
  • Customer contact experience and the ability to translate needs into relevant program requirements
  • Travel 50% - including International 

Desired Skills:

  • Master's Degree
  • Working knowledge of OCS processes New Product Introduction, PQA, CSC and prior interaction with MT&E

The range for this position is $137,472.00 - $189,024.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
