General Description:ย
The Safety & Environmental Program Managerย is responsible forย developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and environmental compliance programs to ensure the safe, responsible, and compliant operation of the companyโs natural gas transmission and distribution systems. This position supports the organizationโs commitment to employee safety, public protection, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.ย
Key Responsibilities:ย
Safety Program Development & Oversight:ย
Develop, implement, andย maintainย comprehensive occupational safety and health programs in compliance with federal (OSHA, DOT, PHMSA), state, and local regulations.ย
Environmental Compliance & Stewardship:ย
Manage environmental permitting, spill prevention, waste management, air emissions reporting, water discharge monitoring, and environmental audits.ย
Regulatory Compliance & Audits:ย
Program Administration & Documentation:ย
Develop written safety and environmental management system (SEMS) policies, procedures, manuals, and training materials.ย
Maintainย accurateย training records, incident reports, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.ย
Training & Employee Engagement:ย
Provideย technical guidance to field personnel, contractors, supervisors, and leadership on safe work practices and environmental protection.ย
Incident Response & Emergency Preparedness:ย
Collaboration & Industry Participation:ย
Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Integrity Management, HR, andย Leadershipย to ensure integrated safety and environmental strategies.ย
Education & Experience:ย
Bachelorโs degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.ย In lieu of a degree, direct operations,ย safetyย or environmental experience with a provenย track recordย of increasingย responsibility may be substituted.ย
2+ years of progressive experience inย operations,ย safety, environmental compliance, or regulatory affairs within the natural gas, utility, or energy industry.ย
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Knowledge & Skills:ย
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PHMSA, DOT, and state pipeline safety and environmental regulations.ย
