Job description

ReGeneration Schools, founded in 2016, is a nationally ranked charter program with nine charter schools in Illinois and Ohio. ReGeneration serves over 2,000 students of whom 99% are minority and 86% are low income. U.S. News and World Report’s 2021 School Ranking listed all ReGeneration elementary schools among the top ten charter elementary schools in Illinois. The recent CREDO study from Stanford University named ReGeneration as the top gap-busting schools in ELA in the state of Illinois and third in Math. ReGeneration’s mission is to ensure that all children have equal access to a high quality, college-preparatory education through academic excellence and the content of their character.

We are seeking an experienced full-time School Security Officer to join our team. This individual will collaborate with school staff to create a learner-centered, friendly and safe school environment. He/she must also have a proven track record of articulating high expectations and promoting appropriate social behavior. The Security Officer helps to ensure the safety of the campus while also serving in other capacities to support the schools operations and its community members.


Qualifications:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • 1-2 years of security experience in an urban setting.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing a positive, orderly learning environment that engages students and maximizes on-task behavior.

  • Great verbal communication skills, time management, and organization skills, and exceptional customer service.

  • Exercise good judgment when responding to safety and security violations and emergencies.

  • Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times.

  • Develop positive rapport with school staff and students to contribute to working conditions conducive to building a professional learning community.

  • Create and follow protocols for the safe and orderly entry, dismissal and movement of students throughout the school grounds.

  • Monitor student behavior to make informed decisions and provide effective communication.

  • Prevent trespassing, vandalism, loitering or other acts that contribute to an unsafe or disorderly environment.

  • Participate in professional development training to ensure ongoing growth.

  • Other duties as assigned.
