The Bangor School Department seeks an energetic, innovative and passionate leader looking to be part of a team committed to revolutionizing public education. The ideal candidate will embrace the notion that school needs to be relevant to the youth of today offering multiple pathways to success. The Bangor School Department is working diligently on a campaign of belonging and administrators at BSD work collaboratively to ensure that all students, staff and families feel welcomed and supported.
The ideal principal candidate for the 14th Street School will support a continuous improvement model, reflection and team planning. Additionally, the ideal candidate will embrace the desire for constituent feedback that can be used to continually enhance the student and family experience at school.
Leaders with a strong background in elementary education, educational leadership, community outreach and effective communication are encouraged to apply.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Fosters a positive school culture and climate.
  2. Implements programs to improve student learning outcomes.
  3. Monitors student progress and performance data.
  4. Supports teacher professional learning and effective instructional practices.
  5. Works collaboratively with district administrators to maintain consistent administrative practice in the operation of the schools.
  6. Maintains current and thorough knowledge of state and national education initiatives and consults the Superintendent of Schools regarding their impact on the leadership of the school.
  7. Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel, including substitutes and volunteers.
  8. Leads and ensures the development, appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
  9. Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school in alignment with the BSD strategic plan.
  10. Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
  11. Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances including all expenditures.
  12. Supervises the maintenance of required records and all reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.
  13. Ensures that Bangor School Department policies, regulations, and procedures as well as state and federal statutes are followed.
  14. Promotes a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  15. Builds and maintains relationships with faculty, parents, and community contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the school.
  16. Maine K-12 Principal Certification required.
  17. Experience preferred.

The 14th Street School is a PreK-3 elementary school serving children of Bangor. Fourteenth Street School is one of the five PreK-3 elementary school in Bangor, and provides a high quality and well-rounded experience for all children. Individuals with a strong background in elementary school teaching, educational leadership, family outreach, assessment of student learning, data analysis, and effective communication are encouraged to apply.
