Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To provide safe, punctual, and comfortable operation of the school bus and perform related work as assigned by the Director or Route Supervisors.

 

PAY RATE:  Bus Driver 5 Hour Salary Schedule  Salary Range - $21.46 to $27.35

 

REPORTS TO:  Transportation Route Supervisor

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 
  1. Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  2. Drive a school bus on assigned routes or as directed, observing all department rules and regulations.
  3. Adhere to all safety practices and attend all Department meetings.
  4. Drivers shall adhere to the dress code adopted by the Douglas County Board of Education.
  5. Drivers are expected to maintain an appropriate level of dress and grooming.
  6. Exercise sound judgement and proficient operation when driving bus.
  7. Keep vehicle clean inside and outside and adhere to all maintenance procedures.
  8. Maintain bus dscipline and adhere to discipline reporting procedures.
  9. Perform pre-trip inspection prior to daily routes and other trips.
  10. Fuel bus as needed to ensure that bus does not run out of fuel.
  11. Deliver bus to fleet as directed for service and repairs.
  12. Submit all reports as instructed by the Transportation Department.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
 

EDUCATION LEVEL:  High School Diploma or GED preferred.

 

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:  Georgia CDL

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

       Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
      

PROFICIENT SKILLS:  Excellent driving record, communication, and organization skills.
