To thrive as a School Bus Driver with no experience, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements, a clean driving record, and a high school diploma or GED. Training is typically provided on the job, and drivers must learn to operate bus safety equipment and comply with state and federal transportation regulations. Patience, reliability, strong communication, and good judgment are crucial soft skills for safely transporting children and interacting with parents and school staff. These positions often require a clean driving record, background check, and a willingness to learn the rules and responsibilities of safely transporting children.
