Job description

  • Schedule and coordinate daily bus routes, field trips, and special transportation requests.
  • Dispatch school buses and drivers efficiently, ensuring timely service.

  • Respond to emergencies, delays, or route changes with effective problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver assignments, vehicle inspections, and route modifications.
  • Communicate with school administrators, parents, and transportation staff regarding route changes, delays, and concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new drivers regarding dispatch procedures.

Requirements
  • 2-3 years of experience within school bus/motor coach dispatching
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous dispatch experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of surrounding geographic area to ensure effective and efficient routing. Ability to organize and prioritize time to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and dispatching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers in fast-paced and/or stressful environment (interpersonal & telephone skills).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers and other team members
  • Ability to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability to work within the appropriate level of independence
