Job description

Job Opening: Cafeteria Manager
Boise City Public Schools is accepting applications for a Cafeteria Manager. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and hardworking individual to oversee the daily operation of the school cafeteria and help ensure our students receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe and welcoming environment.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operation of the school cafeteria and meal service.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast and lunch in accordance with district, state, and USDA guidelines.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and work alongside cafeteria staff.
  • Maintain appropriate food preparation, portioning, and serving procedures.
  • Order food, supplies, and other cafeteria materials and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Receive, organize, and properly store food and supplies.
  • Maintain required records and documentation related to the school nutrition program.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, serving area, dining area, and equipment.
  • Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Work cooperatively with school administration, staff, students, vendors, and other personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Administration.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage inventory, records, and routine paperwork accurately.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to complete required training and certifications related to school nutrition and food safety.
