As of Jul 5, 2026, the average hourly pay for schematic in the United States is $20.50, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.79 and $22.60 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the typical responsibilities of a Schematic Designer on a project team?

Schematic Designers are responsible for creating detailed electrical or electronic circuit diagrams based on project requirements and engineering input. They work closely with engineers, drafters, and production teams to ensure that designs comply with industry standards and client specifications. Daily tasks include reviewing technical documentation, updating schematic layouts, and participating in design reviews to troubleshoot and resolve potential issues early in the development process. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth handoff from design to manufacturing and helps prevent costly errors down the line. Collaborative communication and adaptability are essential, as you may need to adjust schematics in response to new project challenges or feedback.

What is a schematic analyst?

A schematic analyst is a professional who reviews and interprets electrical, electronic, or mechanical schematics to ensure proper design, functionality, and troubleshooting of systems. They often use CAD software and have knowledge of engineering standards to analyze circuit diagrams and technical drawings. This role is common in industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, and telecommunications.

What jobs make around $100,000 a year?

For a Schematic professional, earning around $100,000 annually is common in roles such as senior electrical or electronics engineers, especially with specialized skills in circuit design and CAD software. These positions often require a bachelor's degree, relevant experience, and sometimes professional certifications, and they typically involve working in engineering firms, manufacturing, or technology companies.

What is a Schematic job?

A Schematic job typically involves creating and interpreting technical diagrams that represent electrical circuits, system designs, or engineering layouts. Professionals in this role use specialized software to design schematics for manufacturing, construction, or product development. They ensure accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and proper functionality. This job is common in electronics, engineering, and architectural fields.

What is a schematic job?

A schematic job involves creating, analyzing, or interpreting electrical or electronic schematics, which are detailed diagrams that represent circuit components and connections. Professionals in this role often use CAD software and need a strong understanding of circuitry, electronics, and technical standards. The job may require certifications or training in electrical engineering or related fields.

What are the 5 types of engineering jobs?

Engineering jobs can be categorized into several types, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, and software engineering. Each type focuses on different technical skills, tools, and industries, such as infrastructure, manufacturing, electronics, chemicals, or technology development. Professionals in these fields often require specialized education, certifications, and knowledge of industry standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Schematic position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Schematic Designer, you need a strong background in electrical or electronic engineering, with expertise in reading and creating circuit schematics and diagrams. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, OrCAD, or Altium Designer, and familiarity with industry standards and safety codes is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project managers are highly valued. These capabilities ensure accurate schematic designs that meet technical specifications and facilitate seamless integration within multidisciplinary teams.
