Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
A yard dog operator (equipment operator) for a pneumatic cement operation is responsible for safely moving and positioning trailers within the plant yard and loading them with cement during overnight shifts. This role operates exclusively on-site, never on public or DOT-regulated roads, using a yard tractor to shuttle empty and loaded pneumatic trailers between staging, loading silos, and parking areas. The position requires strong situational awareness, adherence to plant safety protocols, and the ability to work independently in a controlled, industrial environment.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Conducts pre-shift safety inspection of equipment and vehicles. Ensures proper maintenance.
  • Ensures trailers are properly aligned for loading, monitors fill levels and equipment during the loading process
  • Performs basic safety checks to prevent overfills, spills, or equipment issues
  • Inspects each pneumatic trailer for any visible defects or issues, including checking valves, hoses, seals, tank integrity, and overall cleanliness, to ensure the equipment is safe, functional, and suitable for loading.
  • Works closely with Scale Operators, Disptach, Drivers, Plant & Yard Supervisors, and Logistics Manager.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School or GED
Required Work Experience: 1-2 years
Required Technical Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office Software (primarily Excel and Word)

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
