Summary:

The Director of SBIC Limited Partner Investments supports Huntington Private Capital's business development and investment activities through the sourcing, evaluation, underwriting, execution, and monitoring of Limited Partner (LP) investments in Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) and other private investment funds. The role is responsible for developing and executing investment strategies designed to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns while supporting Huntington's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and small business development initiatives. The Director partners closely with fund managers, internal stakeholders, and distribution teams to identify investment opportunities and expand relationships throughout the Huntington footprint.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and evaluate SBIC and private fund investment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with SBIC fund managers, sponsors, general partners, and industry intermediaries.
  • Lead investment underwriting, due diligence, and approval processes for prospective LP investments.
  • Assess investment strategies, management teams, fund structures, and portfolio construction methodologies.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, committee presentations, and executive reporting materials.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, fund compliance, and adherence to investment guidelines.
  • Review quarterly financial statements, capital calls, distributions, valuations, and fund reporting packages.
  • Facilitate investment funding, capital call processing, and ongoing portfolio administration.
  • Perform portfolio analytics and develop financial models to evaluate fund performance and investment returns.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements associated with SBIC and private fund investments.
  • Identify portfolio risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and provide periodic risk reporting.
  • Collaborate with Credit, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, and Operations teams.
  • Evaluate co-investment opportunities and strategic investment partnerships arising from sponsor relationships.
  • Assist in developing portfolio strategy, asset allocation frameworks, and investment performance measurement processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements, operational efficiencies, and technology improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on private equity, private credit, and SBIC program developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 5 or more years in alternative, CRA, or SBIC Investing
  • 5 or more years SBIC private fund investment experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of SBIC funds, private equity, private credit, mezzanine finance, and alternative investment structures.
  • Experience underwriting and monitoring LP investments in private investment funds.
  • Strong financial modeling, investment analysis, and portfolio management skills.
  • Understanding of SBA regulations, fund governance structures, and private fund operations.
  • Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present investment recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple investment opportunities and portfolio relationships simultaneously.
