Job Title: SAS Administrator Technical Specialist

Job Description:

ODM SAS Administrator Technical Services:

• Design SAS solutions, such as SAS Viya and EBI, considering infrastructure, file structure, and high availability.

• Advise stakeholders on SAS solution and implementation decisions.

• Implement SAS solutions based on agreed-upon architecture/design.

• Coordinate implementation projects across server, storage, and networking teams.

• Guide and support SAS users in code and report development.

• Prepare and execute deployment plans across Dev, Test, and Prod environments.

• Establish best practices for SAS implementation and support.

• Provide and oversee SAS support including user administration, monitoring, capacity management, and troubleshooting.

• Drive SAS support activities across server, storage, and networking teams.

• Train and coach backup SAS administrator.

• Create automated processing jobs on the SAS Server to meet the business user needs.

• Work with internal provisioning authorization teams to keep SAS access in conformance with agency policy and auditing standards.

• Provide reports, metrics and presentations to various teams, groups, and meetings as required.

• Create and architecture diagrams with process flows when necessary.

• Create and maintain connectivity to disparate data sources (including Oracle, MS SQL, Hadoop, Impala, network shares, etc.)

• Facilitate data sharing and exchanges with both internal and external entities.

• Continuously monitor the production processes, fix any issues, update the tracker document with the issues, and report the performance issues to management.

• Performance tuning on the SAS Server as required.

• Demonstrate strong familiarity with and instruct various SAS users in procedures for using various SAS applications and tools.

• Understand and write SAS programs and diagnose coding errors and performance issues with SAS users.

• Create Service tickets to fix production issues in cooperation with SAS Tech support and other state or external IT entities.

• Provide solutions to eliminate various single point of failure issues.

• Perform system maintenance, patches, upgrades, and data backups, as necessary.

• Work with SAS Institute staff to provide information and requirements for fixing, remediating, enhancing, and planning various SAS server platform and client, changes, upgrades, design requirements and performance issues.

• Research and provide recommendations to management for any issues or concerns regarding the SAS Server, SAS client or SAS user issues or desires.

• Implement and install and configure software as requested and work with the AIX admin to perform these duties as necessary,

• Keep abreast of SAS analytical tools and functionality (Forecast Studio, Enterprise Guide, Enterprise Miner, PC SAS and other tools).

• Monitor SAS Enterprise BI servers and diagnose and troubleshoot any SAS Server performance issues.

• Provision access for users and groups on SAS Servers (and AIX Servers) in accordance with ODM governance procedures and requirements.

• Create and run AIX scripts and jobs as necessary for Server provisioning and administration.

• Perform Server patching and maintenance, as necessary.

• Provide sizing inputs and requirements during architecture/system design to ensure system specifications meet anticipated system workload.

REQUIRED Skill Sets:

8+ years of experience with SAS Enterprise BI Server administration.

2+ years of experience with SAS Viya platform administration

8+ years of experience installing SAS BI server from scratch on a multitier platform.

Design and configure SAS internal folder structures to facilitate user access and provisioning.

4+ years of experience in creating and running AIX scripts and jobs as necessary for Server provisioning and administration.

4+ years of experience - Perform Server patching and maintenance as necessary.

2+ years of experience on SAS VIYA administration and worked in the architect capacity.

Provide management reports from both the SAS server and the AIX OS upon request.

Strong knowledge and practice implementing standard security policies and procedures for both SAS Server and SAS clients.

Regularly provide access for SAS users and accessible resources (data sets and database connections)

Good experience in working with Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

Effective communication, presentation, & organizational skills.

Familiar with Project Management methodologies.

Ability to create and execute written project plans

Ability to establish priorities & follow through on projects, paying close attention to detail with minimal supervision.

Required Education: BS/BA degree (in computer science or related field) or combination of education & experience
