Job description

Sanitation Supervisor
Chicago, IL (On-site)
Compensation: $95,000 to $110,000
Schedule: 3rd Shift, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
About the Role
A fifth-generation, family-owned food manufacturer with over 100 years in business is looking for an experienced Sanitation Supervisor to lead a 3rd shift sanitation team at a fully automated Chicago facility. This is a floor-present, hands-on leadership role for someone who sets the standard by being visible and engaged every night, not managing from behind a desk. The company is actively growing through acquisitions and new product development, investing in cutting-edge processes, and adding this supervisor role as part of a deliberate effort to strengthen the sanitation team, improve culture, and elevate performance across the operation.
About the Company
This is one of the most storied names in food manufacturing, a company that has been doing things right for over a century and has no plans to slow down. Family-owned through five generations, they have built a reputation for treating employees like people, investing in long-term growth, and continuing to push forward with new products and facility improvements. Local candidates only.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the 3rd shift sanitation team including communicating, training, and enforcing company policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Ensure all food safety standards including GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, and SQF requirements are executed consistently throughout the facility
  • Assign daily work, monitor performance, and hold the team accountable to sanitation program standards
  • Maintain and enforce all GMP, safety, and housekeeping standards across the facility
  • Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of all sanitation chemicals
  • Complete all sanitation-related documentation accurately and on time in compliance with government, industry, and food safety requirements
  • Communicate sanitation issues clearly and promptly to the Sanitation Manager and applicable leadership
  • Develop team members through performance management, coaching, and constructive feedback
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across sanitation methods, equipment, and procedures
  • Create a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment for all team members
Requirements
  • BS/BA degree in a related field is preferred or an equivalent of 7+ years of sanitation leadership experience is required
  • 3+ years of sanitation supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment is required
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, SQF, and food safety regulations
  • Experience with wet clean, dry clean, CIP, and teardown and clean processes
  • Hands-on, floor-present leadership style; this is not an office-based role
  • Bilingual Spanish and English are a plus given the multicultural workforce
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
  • Must be willing and able to work 3rd shift including weekends and overtime as needed
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Pension plan
  • Long-term and short-term disability
  • Fifth-generation, family-owned company with over 100 years of stability and a genuine commitment to its people

This is a role for someone who leads from the floor, holds their team to a high standard, and takes food safety personally. If that describes you, apply now and let's talk.
